Abstract
618,361. Photographic objective mounts. KODAK, Ltd. (Eastman Kodak, Co., Wood, D. L., Silberstein, G. P., and Aklin, G. H.). Oct. 25, 1946, No. 31782. [Classes 97 (i) and 98 (i)] An objective is mounted so that the front portion is fixed relative to the focal plane and the rear portion is axially movable for focussing. Fig. 1 shows a photographic camera in which the front positive portion of the objective comprising lenses 16, 17, 18 is carried by a threaded barrel 19 fixed to the shutter 3. The rear negative lens 15 is in a mount 23 in screw engagement with the cell 20 of the lens 16 and is rotated for axial movement by a gear 25 engaging teeth on the cell 20, the gear being operated by a disc 30 through shafts 29, 26 and gears 28, 27. Alternatively gears 29, 28, 25 may be replaced by a single crown wheel on the shaft 29 or the shaft 26 may extend through the casing and terminate in an operating knob. Shaft 29 carries a cam 36, Fig. 2, engaging a pin 40 on a rotatable arm 42 carrying one mirror 46 of a coincidence rangefinder, the other mirror 47 being viewed through the aperture 76. The focussing movement is thus coupled to the rangefinder adjustment. The lens may be of the type described in Specification 618,360.
