Abstract

647,670. Motor-cycle forks and lamp &c. mountings. TRIUMPH ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and TURNER, E. April 6, 1948, No. 9561. [Class 136 (i)] [Also in Group XI] A casing for a motor cycle is fast with and screens (in side elevation) the upper part of the front fork members where they are joined to the handlebars and provides a housing for the headlamp. The casing may be formed of three sheet metal pressings 12, 13 and 19 as in Fig. 2 or it may consist of one or more casings. The upper face of the casing carries instruments such as a speedometer 21 and ignition cut-out switch 23. A headlamp ring 24 is fitted into a circular opening in the front of the casing so that it is adjustable for orientation and a reflector and headlamp glass 25 are sealed inside by a rubber ring which prevents ingress of dirt or moisture. The rear of the casing embraces the steering stem 26 of a steering damper control knob 27. An electric horn 30 is disposed in the interior of the casing. The handlebars have openings from which Bowden cables, electric conductors and the like concealed within the handlebars can emerge into the interior of the casing, there to be connected to associated parts.
