Abstract

1485770 Inductors for switches BONNELLA SWITCHES Ltd 17 Dec 1974 [21 Dec 1973] 59569/73 Heading H1N In an electric switch having an illuminated, substantially opaque, manually operable switch member 18 which is movable in an opening 13 in a housing 12 between different switch positions, the switch member 18 has a light transmitting panel 30 so positioned that it is obscured to different degrees by the housing 12 in different switch positions. In one embodiment, the switch for a motor vehicle includes a plastics rocker 18 which is pivotable about an axis 20 for operating the movable contacts of the switch. The rocker 18 includes a panel 28 having translucent letters or symbols for indicating the function of the switch when a bulb 15 is illuminated, and a transparent or translucent plastics panel 30 which is fully obscured by the housing 12 when the switch is off. In two on positions of the switch, the panel 30 is either half visible (lower dotted line position) or fully visible (upper dotted line position) so as to provide an indication that the switch is on.
