Abstract

647,599. Electrolytic pickling. TENNESSEE COAL, IRON & RAILROAD CO.. April 13, 1948, No. 10217. Convention date, July 30, 1947. [Class 41] [Also in Group II] Metal sheets are passed between rolls 2 into an electrolytic' pickling bath 6, passing therein between steel and rubber rollers 8, 10, steel and carbon anodes 16, 22, steel and rubber rollers 12, 14 and over , a guide 24 to a timing pot; the steel rollers serve as cathodes. The pickling solution may contain hydrochloric acid, e.g. 0.25-5 per cent sulphuric acid or ammonium chloride, and contains 0.01-0.06 per cent inhibitor, e.g. a reaction compound of sulphocyanic acid with coal-tar pyridine bases, or a thiobiuret compound formed by reaction of perisosulphocyanic acid with aniline or a homologue thereof. U.S.A. Specifications 1,961,096 and 1,961,097 are referred to.
