Abstract

647,566. Wrapping articles. ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH), Ltd. March 30, 1948, No. 8945. [Class 94(i)] In packages in which an article such as a sweet is enclosed in a tubular wrapper which consists of two pieces of material 11 and 12 having overlapping portions secured together by a light seal to form a seam 13 extending around the article, whereby the package may be readily opened by pulling one or other of the two pieces away from the remaining piece, at least one of the overlapping portions is folded over as shown in Fig. 3 to form a marginal portion 23 of double thickness which is united to the opposed portion of the other piece. The seal is thus broken by a peeling action. The end closures of the wrapper may be similar or dissimilar, and the two pieces of material may be alike or unlike in nature and/or colour. An inner wrapper of width substantially equal to the length of the article may be used. In Fig. 1, one end closure 14 is formed by twisting and the other 16 by flattening the extending portion of the piece 12 to form a lateral seam which may be secured by crimping and, if desired, by adhesive or heat and pressure. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), one end closure is formed by folding.
