Abstract

666,323. Packages. ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH), Ltd. May 24, 1949. [May 27, 1948] No. 14311/48. Class 94(i). In a package comprising a wrapper 11 which is folded about a sweet 13 to form a tube with a longitudinal seam, the extending portions of which are formed into end closures by flattening and heatsealing to form lateral seams 18, a narrow strip 12 of paper, foil, film or other material extends around the sweet inside the wrapper in a direction transverse to the axis of the tube and protudes through the seam to form an opening tag 14. The strip is preferably formed of material which is stronger than that of the wrapper and of a contrasting colour. Short slits 16 may be formed in the edge of the wrapper adjacent the trip to assist the tearing action. Prior to wrapping, the strip is secured to the inner surface of the wrapper blank in a central position with one end projecting beyond an edge of the blank to form the tag.
