Abstract

A wrapping (4) for a lollipop defined by a stick (2) and a confectionary product (3). The wrapping includes a sheet formed in two adjacent parts (4a, 4b) fixed to each other along respective peripheral edges; and a tab (5) having a portion fixed to the sheet at the peripheral edges of the two parts, and a portion outside the sheet and which is gripped and pulled by the user to separate the two parts of the sheet.

Description

LOLLIPOP WRAPPING
TECHNICAL FIELD The present invention relates to a lollipop wrapping. BACKGROUND ART As is known, wrappings for lollipops, of the type comprising a stick supporting a spherical confectionary product on one end, comprise a sheet of plastic material wrapped about the confectionary product and about the portion of the stick close to the confectionary product; and the portion of the wrapping about the stick is heat sealed to adhere to the stick. A major drawback of such wrappings lies in their being difficult to remove. That is, the point on which the user works to remove the wrapping is the portion of the wrapping surrounding the stick, which, being heat sealed, has no fingerhold or pull tab by which to unwind the wrapping. DISCLOSURE OF INVENTION It is- an object of the present invention to provide a lollipop wrapping designed to eliminate the aforementioned drawback. According to the present invention, there is provided a wrapping for a lollipop comprising a stick and a confectionary product; the wrapping being characterized by comprising a sheet formed in two adjacent parts fixed to each other along respective peripheral edges; and a tab having a portion fixed to said sheet at said peripheral edges of said parts, and a portion outside said sheet and which is gripped and pulled by the user to separate said parts of said sheet. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS A preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 shows a view in perspective of a wrapped lollipop; Figure 2 shows a view in perspective of a wrapping in accordance with the teachings of the present invention. BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION Number 1 in Figure 1 indicates a lollipop comprising a stick 2, and a substantially spherical confectionary product 3 fitted to one end of stick 2. Number 4 in Figure 2 indicates a wrapping for lollipop 1. Wrapping 4 comprises a rectangular sheet preferably made of plastic material suitable for food products. The sheet has one face hereinafter referred to as the inner face, by contacting confectionary product 3 when this is wrapped, and an opposite face hereinafter referred to as the outer face. The sheet is formed in two adjacent parts 4a and 4b, of which one part 4a has a lateral edge overlapping a lateral edge of the other part 4b, and the overlapping edges are preferably heat sealed. Wrapping 4 also comprises a tab 5 extending from one face to the other of the sheet defining wrapping 4, and through the area defined by the two overlapping edges. Tab 5 thus comprises two end portions 5a and 5b, one on the outer face of wrapping 4, and the other on the inner face of wrapping 4. Tab 5 also comprises a central portion 5c, which extends through the area defined by the two overlapping edges, and is fixed, preferably heat sealed, to the overlapping edges. Portion 5b is also preferably fixed to the inner face of wrapping 4. It should be pointed out that tab 5 extends through the centerline of the area defined by the two overlapping edges, and the longitudinal axis of tab 5 preferably defines an acute angle with the longitudinal axis of the overlapping edges. With reference to Figure 1, when wrapping 4 is wrapped about confectionary product 3, the peripheral edge of wrapping 4 is first twisted onto the portion of stick 2 close to confectionary product 3, and is then heat sealed. As can be seen, once wrapping 4 is applied to confectionary product 3, portion 5a of tab 5 is located on the central portion of confectionary product In actual use, when portion 5a of tab 5 is gripped and pulled, parts 4a and 4b of wrapping 4 are separated at the overlapping edge area. The advantage of the present invention will be clear from the foregoing description. In particular, a wrapping 4 is formed which can be removed from confectionary product 3 in one simple operation, i.e. by simply pulling tab 5 to separate the two parts of wrapping 4. Clearly, changes may be made to wrapping 4 as described and illustrated herein without, however, departing from the scope of the present invention. In particular, tab 5 need not comprise portion 5b, and may be formed in one piece with one of the two parts of wrapping 4.
