Abstract
647,426. Two-park couplings ; lamp-holders. PEDERSEN, S. L. Feb. 24, 1948, Nos. 5444 and 5445. Convention dates, March 7, 1947, and June 13, 1947. [Class 38 (i)] Leads are connected to the terminals of a component such as a plug or lamp-holder by a clamping-member operable from outside the component. Fig. 6 shows one-half of a plug having channels 18, 20 for the leads leading from an entry aperture 14. Contact strips 28, 30 in the ends of the channels are connected to the plug pins 50, 52. The clamping member comprises a plate 32, Fig. 4, having feet 34, 36 which enter the channels above the contact strips to clamp the leads thereto.' A further foot is also provided which clamps the leads at the aperture 14. The plate 32 is operable by a screw 48 also serving to hold the two parts of the plug permanently together. In a modification, Fig. 11, the clamping member comprises a cylindrical member 80 rotatable in a recess formed by semicylindrical recesses in the two halves of the component and having apertures into which the leads 94 are inserted to be clamped against the contact strips 28, 30 by rotational movement of member 80. This is effected by a plate-like part 86 extending at right angles to the lead apertures and having a projection 98 to clamp the leads at the entry aperture. Suitable recesses are provided in the half 12 of the component to enable the clamping member to operate and are closed by the latter when in its operative position in which it is held by a screw. The two halves of the component are riveted together. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also describes a plug, Fig. 12 (Cancelled), wherein the clamping member forms a cover 86 pivoted on a shaft 110 and carrying cylindrical portions 80a, 80b for clamping the ends of the leads, and a portion 98 for clamping the leads where they enter the plug. The cover is secured in the clamping position by a screw 116. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
