Abstract

An alloy for sealing to soft glass consists of approximate 42 per cent nickel, 4 to 8 per cent chromium, not less than 50 per cent iron, and from 0:1 to 2 per cent aluminium. Manganese may be present from 0.25 per cent to 0.4 per cent and carbon up to 0.55 per cent. The following impurities may be present up to the amounts stated. Silicon 0.3 per cent, sulphur 0.02 per cent and phosphorus 0.015 per cent. Specifications 516,110, [Group XL], 647,254, 647,255 and 647,256 are referred to.
