Abstract

647,015. High-frequency impedance networks. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE, DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE OF TECHNICAL SERVICES OF. Feb. 27, 1948, No. 5943. Convention date, April 18, 1945. [Class 40 (viii)] An impedance arrangement for stabilizing a high-frequency low Q oscillator comprises a transmission line connecting the oscillator to a load with a number of high-Q resonators connected to the line in such a manner that the frequencies at which they are each resonant, effect maximum power transfer to the load. Alternatively a stub may be connected to the transmission line, terminated by absorptive material and provided with a resonant cavity communicating with the stub through an iris. As shown, the generator 22 is connected by a wave-guide 23 to load 23A. An intermediate section 24 of the guide is provided with a stub 25 terminated by a load 35 and having one or more resonant cavities 26, 27, 28, and 29, coupled thereto through apertures in the wall thereof and provided with tuning screws 33. The stub may be slid by a screw 32 along section 24. This unit produces practically zero attenuates when one of its cavities is resonant at an oscillator frequency, but produces attenuation at other frequencies. It thus tends to stabilize the oscillator at any of the frequencies of its resonant cavities.
