Abstract

646,851. Gas burners. SPARKS, R. E. Feb. 19, 1948, No. 4924. [Class 75(i)] A portable gas burner used in the manner of a blowlamp comprises a gas container with a burner nozzle extending laterally from its upper end. A gas burner 2 comprising a combustion tube 7 and a mixing tube 6 of circular, oval or polygonal section is detachably secured to an axially drilled boss 4 on the neck of a copper bottle 1 containing butane under pressure. The gas flow is controlled by a valve 5 on the bottle and air is induced into the mixing tube through a hole 8 therein. A baffle in the form of a wire coil is secured within the combustion tube. A handle 14 fitted with splayed legs 15 is clipped to the bottle; or the bottle may be inserted in a carrier provided with a handle. Specification 461,654 is referred to.
