Abstract

646,752. Revolving radial-cylinder pumps and compressors. CONNOR, A. A. May 25, 1948, No. 14113. [Classes 8(i) and 102(i)] A revolving radial-cylinder pump or compressor comprises a cylinder block 13 fitted with a phosphor bronze bearing bush 13<SP>*</SP> and mounted on a valve spindle 14 attached to the cover 2 of the casing 1. The end of the casing 1 has secured to it a spigot 4, the axis of which is eccentric to the valve spindle 14; the spigot forms a bearing for the guide ring 6, against which the pistons 16 bear, and also for the drive shaft 7 that is connected to the cylinder block by a coupling 8, 9, 10. The valve spindle has a suction port 19 and the outlet port has a union 21 that clamps in position a plate 22 and filter ring 23 that assists in silencing the inlet when the apparatus is used as a compressor. The oil flung outwards by the rotating cylinder block may be led to the valve spindle which is provided with a channel for lubrication purposes.
