Abstract
646,590. Belt gearing. BAMFORD, C. J., and BAMFORD, H. V. Feb. 18, 1948, No. 4846. [Class 80(i)] [Also in Group I] In a mowing machine (see Group I), two shafts are connected by belt anc pulley or chain anc sprocket drive and mean: are provided for altering the position of the driving surface of one sprocket or pulley in relation to thai of the other. As shown, the shaft 26 carrying a pulley 25 is mounted in a bearing 27 contained in a housing 28, the exterior surfaces 29 of which are eccentric to the shaft 26, the housing 28 being supported in a bracket 30 having a clamping cap 31 to allow adjustment of the angular position of the housing 28. In a modification a pulley has a V- section groove and is made in two separate parts with the division parallel to the plane of rotation the pulley having spring- loaded means tending to keep the two parts of the pulley in the closed position so that the tension of the belt is automatically maintained.
