Abstract

646,475. Valve circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL, Ltd. Feb. 13, 1948, No. 4242. Convention date, Feb. 17, 1947. [Class 40 (v)] In a high-frequency oscillator or amplifier in which the frequency is determined by a tuned circuit comprising a variable condenser 6 and an inductance 7 variable in steps to give two or more ranges, and in which the law of variation of frequency with variation of the capacity is modified in the higher frequency ranges by the stray inductance of the leads and of the coupling-coil 11 in conjunction with the valve capacities, a similar law is obtained in the lower frequency ranges by means of an auxiliary circuit comprising a condenser 14 and inductance 13 coupled to and having a natural frequency higher than the frequencydetermining circuit. The auxiliary circuit may alternatively comprise part of the inductance 7 shunted by a condenser, Fig. 4 (not shown).
