Abstract

646,429. Magnets. MAY, R. G. May 1, 1947, No. 11760. [Class 35] [Also in Groups XXXVIII and XXXIX] A tubular former 14 carrying a stylus holder 16 and supported by resilient arms 25 moves laterally between a core 11 and a semi-circular plate 12 which derive opposite magnetic polarities from a permanent magnet 7. The magnet assembly is secured by non-ferrous plates 18, 19, one plate having an extension 23 to which the resilient arms are secured. The former 14 may be made of a non-magnetic material and supports a winding for the electrical recording or reproduction of sound (see Group XXXIX). Alternatively an iron former may be used, the winding being fitted in a recess in the core 11 as in Fig. 5.
