Abstract

645,716. Centrifugal casting - machines. JELENKO & CO., Inc., J. F. Jan. 28, 1948, No. 2600. Convention date, May 3, 1941. [Class 83 (i)] In a machine as described in Specifications 645,714 and 645,715, the thermo-couple is arranged in a rib projecting from the inner face of the 'heating chamber and this, with other ribs, holds the crucible spaced from said inner face. The heating chamber comprises a sheet metal shell 24 lined with magnesia, asbestos, &c. 58, Fig. 5, with a heating element 54 and an inner lining 48 of alundum provided with two ribs 72 for supporting the crucible 74 and an upper rib 60 adapted to engage a groove 92 in the crucible. This has an opening 86, to admit the charge provided with an insulated door 104, Fig. 4, and an outlet 78, Fig. 5, projecting through a flanged plate 36 to catch any spilled molten metal. The thermo-couple 62 is mounted in the rib 60 and leads from this and the element 54 are joined to terminals 64, 66, Fig. 4, in a block 30. The machine is constructed and operated as in the prior Specifications except that it is stated that the mould may be preheated to about 1300‹ F., before clamping against the crucible outlet 78.
