644,727. Machinery guards. TUNNICLIFF, F. July 9, 1948, No. 18471. [Class 80(iv)] A guillotine guard comprises two members 5, 6 connected at their extremities to provide a narrow gap for the work material adjacent the fixed knife-blade 3 of the guillotine and is supported on spring- loaded, sliding rods 9, 10, so as to be moved by the engagement therewith of the inclined edge of the moving knife beam 2 to allow for the deformation of the material on cutting. The supporting bracket for rod 10 is pivoted to another fixed bracket 13 and the holes in bracket 11 supporting the rod 9 have a clearance to allow this movement. Sheet metal extensions 20, 21 may be provided on the members 5, 6 respectively. Specification 588,508 is referred to.
