588,508. Machinery guards. CARDIGAN SHEET METAL WORKS, Ltd., and UPCHURCH, H. A. Feb. 24, 1945, No. 4661. [Class 80 (iv)] A guard for a guillotine for cutting sheet metal or other material comprises upper and lower members 6, 7 defining a narrow throat 8 for the passage of the sheet material and connected at their ends by guide members 9, 10 working in guides 11, 12 on the frame 3 of the machine. The guide member 10 at the " high " end of the movable blade 1 is pivoted on a pin 13 to the frame 3 whilst the guide member 9 is pivoted by a pin 15 to the beam 2 carrying the blade 1 at the " low end thereof so that the guard moves with the movable blade. Flared portions 6a, 7a of the upper and lower guard members protrude into close proximity to the movable beam 2 and the lower fixed blade 4.
