644,668. Sheet - delivery apparatus. THRISSELL ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., HARRISON, G., and NASH, R. A. April 21, 1948, No. 11029. [Class 100 (i)] A machine for slitting paper, cardboard and like material is of the kind provided with a device for collecting each of the strips cut from a sheet in a different compartment as they issue from the slitting-knives of the machine. Sheets are fed between circular cutters 1 by feed rollers 3 and then towards a delivery table 4 on which the strips are stacked in piles. The table 4 is associated with plates 5 which divide the table into compartments 6 equal in number to the number of strips cut from the sheets. The plates 5 are laterally offset from each of the cutters by a distance less than half the width of a cut strip, whereby each strip is delivered on to the top edge of a plate 5 and overbalances and falls into the compartment beneath the major part of the strip. The plates 5 are adjustably mounted on a transverse bar by clamps 7, the opposite ends of the plates being secured by laterally adjustable tension screws 8. The table 5 is provided with adjustable front stops 10 and rear spring stops 11 which check the strips rebounding as they strike the front stops. Top plates 9 may be fitted above the plates 5 to prevent the strips curling lengthwise. The plates 5 and 9 may be carried by supports secured to the machine frame while the table 4 may be lowered as the pile increases.
