644,594. Rolls of paper machines. WALMSLEYS (BURY), Ltd., and TEMPERLEY, J. July 17, 1947, No. 19069. [Class 96] Holes in a paper machine roll a, e.g. a suction couch roll each have a countersink c which is offset to the bore b so that the locus l of the rotationally leading points of the cross sections of each hole is a straight line. Each hole may be inclined with respect to the diametral plane of the roll passing through the point of intersection of the axis of the bore b and the circumference of the roll, in the' direction of rotation. The bore b may taper inwardly.
