Abstract

[Class 39(iii)] [Also in Group XII] An electrode baking oven has two or more independant, electrically heated and superposed zones 1 and 2 through which the electrodes C<SP>1</SP> are conveyed on pairs of endless chains 4 and 6, the chains at the exit ends of the oven passing over transfer drums 11 adapted to lift the emerging electrodes from one pair of chains 4 and to transfer them to another pair of chains 6 by which they are again traversed through the oven. Each drum 11 rotates in a semi circular guide 13 preventing the electrodes from leaving the drum periphery before they are disposed over the next pair of chains. Slackness in the chain pairs is taken up by adjustable tension springs 16 acting on chain sprockets. The chain pairs may travel at different speeds and the electrodes may be mechanically fed into and withdrawn from the oven. The electric heating elements are in tray like frameworks 3 sliding into the oven on guides on the side walls.
