Abstract
600,521. Conveyers. LANE, F. Oct. 20, 1945, No. 27638. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group XII] In a travelling hearth furnace of the type comprising blocks of firebrick arranged in contiguous rows disposed transversely relative to the furnace chamber and assembled so as to constitute an endless conveyer, the firebricks or blocks 10 make dovetail joints 9a, 10a with transverse bars of insulating material 9, which are secured to the links of a roller type endless chain by pins 12. Transverse ribs 10c and 9d in the blocks and bars respectively co-operate with grooves 10b and 9c, and the rollers 11d run on rails 13. The lower run of the hearth may be supported by a continuous wire mesh belt 16, which is itself supported by cross-rollers 17.
