Abstract

554,726. Roller-way conveyers. ELECTRIC RESISTANCE FURNACE CO., Ltd., and MILLAR, W. J. Jan. 13, 1942, No. 495. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group XII] A roller conveyer for conveying trays of metallic material or articles to be heat treated through a furnace comprises roller units extending across the width of the furnace and consisting of lateral and intermediate rollers 1, 2 having spindles 4 mounted in bearings 5, the spindles being coupled to intermediate shafts 8 and to end shafts 11 which are coupled to driving spindles 14 provided with driving sprocket wheels 15. As shown, the spindles 4 have square ends 6 engaging with square sockets in the ends of the shafts 8, 11. The sprocket wheels 15 are driven by chain-gearing and jockey pulleys 17 maintain the chain in contact with the sprocket wheels.
