Abstract

1428030 Continuous furnaces IDEAL INDUCTION Ltd 8 July 1974 [11 April 1973] 17288/73 Heading F4B A continuous tube annealing furnace 1 comprises a heating section 10 with induction heating coils, a first cooling section 11 in which conveyer rolls 15 carry the tubes A between cooling tubes 16 and 17 and a second cooling section 12 in which an endless chain conveyer 21 carrying the tubes is in contact with cooling tubes 22 and spaced from further cooling tubes 23, said second cooling section also having a fan 24, Fig. 2, directing gas upwardly and transversely of the chain conveyer. The cooling gas has a composition of 5% hydrogen and 95% nitrogen by volume. The tubes are fed into the furnace by a belt conveyer 13 with a chain drive 14 the latter being powered by a belt drive 18 which slow drives the rollers 15. The conveyer 21 is driven by a motor 25 through chain and sprocket gearing 26 and drive roller 27, its other roller 28 having a further chain and sprocket drive 29 to the roller belt drive 18. The conveyers 13 and 21 and rollers 15 are thus driven by a common motor and provide equal linear conveying speeds for the tubes.
