648,758. Endless conveyers. BOUGHTON, W. A., DAWES, C. L., MANSFIELD, W. R., HUGHES, F. C., and HILL, D. M. April 29, 1947, No. 11462. Convention date, Jan. 7. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group V] In a process for producing hightemperature resisting mica plates (see Group V) individual plates 14 are passed through a furnace 10 on an intermittently-operated conveyer or travelling grate 12 comprising a chain link belt, preferably of open structure, capable of withstanding the temperature of the furnace. The travelling grate is provided with a plurality of equally-spaced pusher bars 18 arranged to engage and advance the plates 14 during the intermittent movement of the grate over the hearth 20 of the heating furnace, and runs over an idler sprocket 22 at the receiving end thereof, its upper run being supported by side-rails 25. The intermittently - operating mechanism includes a spring-pressed pawl 26 carried by a rocker arm 28 co-operating with notches 30 formed in the periphery of a ratchet disc 32, the rocker arm 28 being rocked by a cam 36 on a cam-shaft 38 operating through suitable connections. At the end of its passage through the furnace the mica plate 14 passes over the top of sprocket 24, across a bridge-plate 126, over a roller 128 and on to a press platen 66, its leading edge being held by a stop-pin 130.
