Abstract

644,412. Magnetic induction accelerators. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., MILNER, C. J., and WILKINSON, K. J. R. Feb. 24, 1948, No. 5483. Addition to 624,850. [Class 39 (i)] In the magnetic induction accelerator of the parent Specification in which the accelerating flux and the guiding flux are produced by two concentric windings which lie radially on either side of the electron orbit, the two windings are connected in parallel with a source of alternating voltage, and an adjustable auxiliary voltage of small value relative to, and in quadrature with the alternating voltage is applied in series with one of the windings, preferably the one having the greater number of turns to effect a correction of the small phase difference between the accelerating flux and the guiding flux due to the resistances of the windings.
