Abstract
624,850. Electromagnets. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., WILKINSON K. J. R., and MILNER, C. J. Oct. 4, 1945' No. 25847. [Class 35] [Also in Group XL (a)] A magnetic induction accelerator comprises an evacuated. annular container for the accelerated electrons, means for providing a path for the accelerating flux substantially wholly in magnetic material, and other means providing for the guiding flux a path substantially wholly in magnetic material except for the traversing of the orbit space, the fluxes being produced by concentric windings on either side of the orbital space. The envelope 8 lies between an inner core 1 and outer core 2 and is flanked by an intermediate core 5 in two parts. The concentric coils 6, 7 are spirally wound on standard core limbs and are linked by radial laminated members 3, 4. The core members 1, 2, 5 are split circumferentially to prevent short circuiting and are linked at the centre by half rings 16 hold by clamping plate 17 and bolt 18 and at the outside and intermediately by other bolts and plates.
