Abstract

PURPOSE:To avoid magnetic saturation of iron core due to magnetic flux leaked from the outside and to prevent circumferential eddy current, by providing a current transformer with a magnetic shield having blocks consisting of laminated iron plates. CONSTITUTION:A primary conductor 4 is inserted through a current transformer consisting of a ring-shaped iron core 1 and a secondary conductor 2 wound on the core 1. The transformer body and a part of the primary conductor 4 are covered with a magnetic shield 9. The shield 9 having a circular section coaxial with the core 1 is divided into a plurality of blocks 5 such that gaps defined between the blocks 5 are opposed to each other across the center of the core 1. Thereby, eddy current is inhibited from flowing in the axial direction through the shield, while magnetic flux is inhibited from flowing circumferentially through the ring-shaped section. Accordingly, it is possible to avoid magnetic saturation of the core 1 due to magnetic flux leaked from the outside, and to prevent the creeping of eddy current.
