[Class 35] A D.C. motor for operation submerged in liquid fuel has brushes arranged so that the longitudinal resistance of the negative brush and the commutator contact resistances are mutually different and greater than those of the positive brush. The longitudinal resistances may differ in the ratio of 27 : 1 and the contact resistances in the ratio of 6 : 1. The negative brush is preferably formed without metal content while the positive brush contains both metal and carbon. U.S.A. Specification 2,261,915 is referred to.
