[Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XIII] A refrigerating system for controlling the temperature and relative humidity of a chillroom comprises a compressor 4, a watercooled condenser 2 outside the chill-room and an air-cooled condenser 1 for heating the chillroom connected in parallel and an evaporator 3, a thermostat 8 setting the compressor in operation with the condenser 2 to cool the room and a humidistat 12 setting the compressor in operation with the condenser 1 to lower the humidity of the room, the humidistat only being free to operate when a predetermined low temperature has been reached. The change- ,over is effected by solenoidoperated valves 5, 6 controlled by relays 9, 11 operated by the thermostat and humidistat. When the machine is operating under the control of the humidistat, the pressure in the system drops and a pressure-responsive valve 7 shuts off the cooling- water supply to the condenser 2. Air is circulated over the evaporator and the condenser 1 by a fan 10, 10<SP>1</SP>.
