Abstract
639,710. Refrigerating; thermostats. HALL, Ltd., J. & E., and HALES, R. T. Nov. 7, 1947, No. 32940. Divided out of 639,683. [Classes 29 and 64(ii)] [Also in Groups XXXV and XXXVII] The electrically operated expansion valve 7 of a refrigerating plant is controlled by a switch 11 actuated by a thermostat 24 the bulb 27 of which is applied to the pipe 36 connecting the evaporator 2 to the compressor 1, the thermostat acting in opposition to the combined action of a spring 21 and a pressurestat 23 connected by a pipe 35 to the suction valve 3 of the compressor. The microswitch 11, of the type described in Specification 419,917, [Group XXXVII], is actuated by a bell crank lever 12 having a peg 18 resting against a collar 19 on a rod connecting the bellows 28 of the pressurestat and the thermostat. When the compressor 1 is started the suction pressure drops and the thermostat bellows forces the rod 20 upwardly closing the switch 11 to open the electromagnetic valve 7 supplying refrigerant to the evaporator 2. At a predetermined low temperature the pressure in the thermostat bellows is reduced sufficiently to open the switch and close the valve 7. The spring 21 is adjusted by a nut 22.
