Abstract

641,392. Locking levers. COLEMAN, R. S. March 6, 1948. No. 6971. '[Class 80(iii)] [Also in Group XXX] Conveyer control apparatus which comprises a frame and two pairs of links pivotally mounted in the frame, each pair of links being operatively associated with a control arm and the two linkages being interconnected in such a way that the movement of either control arm into a position allowing the passage of traffic along a conveyer it controls serves to lock the other control arm in a position obstructing the passage of traffic along a conveyer controlled by the second control arm. As shown in the Figure, the two controlling arms 20, 25 are pivotally mounted at 18 and 24 between two plates 10 and are interconnected by a spring 26. Two levers 13 and 14 forming an integral unit are pivoted at 11 to slue slightly. A link 13c connected with the arm 20 is pivotally connected with a link 13b, fixedly mounted on a pivot 15, and with a link 13a connected to the link 13b and to the end of the lever 13. Similarly, the arm 25 is interconnected by links 14a, 14b, 14c to the lever 14. In operation, when the arm 25 is open and the arm 20 is closed, the pressure of the articles prevents any further movement but when the pressure on the arm 25 ceases it is withdrawn to the closed position by the spring 26. The levers 13 and 14 are slued slightly and the arm 20 is moved to the open position.
