Abstract

641,006. Refrigerators. GENERAL BRONZE CORPORATION. Oct. 29, 1947, No. 28880. Convention date, Jan. 26, 1945. [Class 29] A closure member 2 of a refrigerator cabinet 1 has evaporator pipes 6 and a fan 10 mounted on its inner side, and when the closure member is swung away from the opening in the cabinet the fan continues in operation to defrost the evaporator without raising the temperature in the cabinet. The lid 2 of a topopening cabinet is hinged at 3 and carries on its outer face a motor 11 driving the fan 10 and flexible pipes 8 supplying the finned evaporator pipes 6. An open-ended casing 13 surrounds the evaporator and fan. During defrosting a drip pan 21 is hung by bales 22 from pins 23 on the side walls 15 of the casing and the cabinet is closed by a temporary cover 2'. In a modification the closure member is arranged in the side wall and co-operates with a baffle fixed in the chamber to circulate the air over the evaporator.
