Abstract

640,776. Securing wall boards &c. HAY, H. M. Aug. 20, 1948, No. 21988. [Class 20 (iv)] Building boards b are held on a lath c by a metal clip a, either a strip of sheet 'metal or a wire, having at least a portion of C shape, adapted to straddle the web of a T lath, and ends adapted to engage the lath. The clip ends may be inwardly directed to engage beneath a head d on the web, as in Fig. 1, with curved portions bearing on the boards, or, as in Fig. 4, the ends of the clip may be threaded through a hole e in the web, and when of non- resilient metal may then be bent parallel with the web. A dent f may be formed in the middle of the clip to bear on the hood of the lath. When the web of the lath is of less depth than the boards, the limbs of the clip are extended at g as in Fig. 6, with the ends bent to engage in hole e. To limit this insertion of the clip between the boards the limb may be split and a tongue h bent therefrom to engage the head of the lath, as in Fig. 7. The limbs of the clips may terminate in outwardly directed legs i which engage reverted borders j of an inverted T lath as in Fig. 10, or of a webless lath k as in Fig. 11, and the ends of the portions i may be reverted. The lath k may be strengthened by a longitudinal indentation.
