Abstract
639,416. Refrigerating. CARRIER ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. July 10, 1947, No. 18379. Convention date, July 13, 1946. [Class 29] In a continuous cycle absorption refrigerating machine the evaporator of which operates under a partial vacuum, as described in Specification 639,413, the valve 34 in the discharge of the absorbent circulating pump 8 is controlled in accordance with the temperature of the chilled water in pipe 27 by a pressure device 35, 36 acting through line 47. The valve 37 controlling the admission of steam to the generator 6 is controlled in accordance with the temperature of the concentrated absorbent leaving the generator by a device 40, 41 acting through line 47<SP>1</SP>. The valve 42 controlling the flow of the cooling water through the absorber 3 and condenser 7 is controlled in accordance with the condensate temperature by a device 43, 44 acting through line 45. Actuating air for the controls is supplied from a system 51, 50 which includes a shut-off valve 49 which is closed by a pressure responsive member 48 if the pump 8 fails so as to shut down the machine. The response characteristics of the control of valve 37 may be modified at partial loads by connecting the device 40 to either the line 47 or the line 45 by line 46 or line 46<SP>1</SP> respectively A by-pass pipe. including a control valve may be included to divert cooling water past the condenser, Fig, 4, (not shown). Specification 639,414 also is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the subjectmatter of Specification 639,414. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
