Thermally-actuated valves.-The flap valve j, Fig. 2, controlling the flow of cooling-water from a pipe g through the pipes h, i to the condenser and the generator-absorber, respectively, of an absorption refrigerating machine is regulated through trip-lever mechanism b, o, m by a thermostat disposed in the generator-absorber and adapted to act upon the lever b through the stem c. Pressure-relieving devices.-The pipe h is run through the evaporator space of the refrigerating machine and, in order to prevent bursting of the pipe when the water freezes, a rubber &c. cone u, Fig. 3, is provided in that part of the pipe passing through the, evaporator.
