Abstract

The heating system of a house, utilises the waste heat in the used domestic hot water, by means of a heat pump. A compressor (C) delivers refrigerant to a condenser (6) which is cooled by air from a fan. The air is heated by passing through the condenser and is then used to heat the house. The refrigerant leaving the condenser passes through an expansion valve to an evaporator (60) where it is heated by waste domestic hot water before returning to the compressor. Each source of waste hot water has a thermostatic control valve which directs the water either to the evaporator (60) or directly to the drain (58).
