Abstract
638,744. Handles. STRANDBERG, M. O. Aug. 23, 1946, No. 25238. Convention date, Aug. 24, 1945. [Class 133] Handles for bags or other containers 'are manufactured by folding one length, or several lengths arranged one upon the other, of paper, fabric or like flexible material a number of times longitudinally to form a multi-layered strip, the folded parts thus obtained being folded against each other, and thereafter slitting opposite end portions to form flaps which are attached to respective sides of a bag or container. As shown a paper strip 4 is coated with paste and folded along the lines b, b with the outer edges facing to the middle line a, a. The double parts obtained are coated with paste and folded along the lines c, c with the outer edges against the middle line a, a and the parts thus obtained are then coated with paste and finally folded against each other along the middle line. A length is cut off and the ends slit at 5 to form two flaps 6 which may be glued to each side of the bag after folding to form two vertical parts 3 and a horizontal part 6<SP>1</SP>, and which may have a strengthening strip 7 of paper glued over them or one part of each may be glued to a strengthening strip which is glued to one side of the bag, the other side of the flaps being glued to the other side of the bag. A cross-piece 8 of wood may be arranged in the horizontal part 6<SP>1</SP>.
