Abstract

638,486. Conductors; couplings. ALFALAVAL CO., Ltd., and CLARK, T. L. Nov. 21, 1945, No. 31341. [Classes 36 and 38 (i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] In a rubber hose 1 of the type having a pair of electric conductors 2, 3 embedded in its walls and extending spirally through the length of the hose, the ends 2a, 3a of said conductors extend beyond the end of the hose and are folded back against the outer and inner walls of the hose respectively and held in position by metal sleeves 6, 4 between which the wall of the hose is compressed. The inner sleeve 4 has an outwardly projecting flange and the outer sleeve 6 has an inwardly projecting flange, an insulating ring 5 being held between these two flanges. A terminal fitting for use with this hose comprises a hollow metal spigot 7 which makes contact with the inner sleeve 4 and is insulated from the outer sleeve 6 by means of an insulating washer 8, and a spring contact 9 which makes contact with the outer sleeve 6 and is insulated from the spigot 7. The spring contact 9 is so shaped that its end portion 9b does not scrape along the surface of sleeve 6 during the application or withdrawal of the terminal fitting to the hose.
