Abstract

637,669. Variable-pitch propellers. LAGABBE, E. DE. July 16, 1947, No. 18972. Convention date, March 27, 1945. [Class 114] The blade of a propeller has its pitch varied both by rotating the root in the propeller boss and also by deflecting the trailing portion 2 of the blade relative to the main portion 1. This distortion is produced by the end of the arm 7 engaging a fixed cam surface 9 during pitch adjustment of the main blade. To obtain variation of deflection along the blade the material of the blade may be made of varying stiffness by using a two-part construction, a metal part 14 enclosing a plastic portion 15.
