Abstract
145,875. Beedle, W. April 1, 1919. Screw and like propellers.-A screw propeller of the kind having blades of semi-annular or semielliptical form has arms to which the wide tip is attached, the narrower roots being secured to the arms, narrow boss or both in a plane perpendicular to the propeller shaft which also contains the tip attachment. The propeller comprises blades c, Fig. 1, with broad tip c<1> attached at d to arms a and with narrow root c<2> attached at d<1> the arms being carried by a small boss b. In modifications, the root of one blade is brought round the boss and attached to the arm of the opposite blade or the root is attached to an arm and to the boss. In a further modification, the root c<2> encircles the boss b and is enclosed in a sleeve e, Fig. 5, a set screw f passing through the sleeve into the boss.
