Abstract

636,282. Motor-cycle spring forks. BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO., Ltd., and PERKINS, H. Nov. 15, 1947, No. 30378. [Class 136 (iii)] In a spring fork for motor-cycles consisting of a fixed outer tube 1 secured to the steering head 3 and a sliding inner tube 13 carrying the wheel axle, the tube 13 constituting the spring controlled sliding member is formed at one end with a spiral groove 23 into which is screwed the end coils of the spring 17. As shown in Fig. 2, the upper end of the tube 13 is reduced to a diameter which is slightly greater than the diameter of the spring 17. The spiral groove 23 may be formed by rolling or swaging and its helix corresponds to the coils of the spring. Specification 636,281 is referred to.
