Abstract

576,294. Cycle spring forks. BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO., Ltd., and PERKINS, H. March 14, 1944, No. 4712. [Class 136 (iii)] A spring fork comprises laterally spaced telescopic members united by lateral members 5, 7, the lugs 9, 11 of which receive the steering post 13 and means for securing the post to the lugs which include a sleeve 15 clamped within one of the lugs against the post 13 to which it is screw-threaded so that upon unclamping the lug from the sleeve 15 the longitudinal position of the latter on the post 13 may be adjusted to enable adjustment of spaced ball bearings 23, 25 on which the post is mounted. In the construction described, the bush 15 is located in the top lug 9 and the lower lug 11 is brazed to the post 13. The bush 15 is slotted at 29 to receive a suitable spanner and its skirt is slotted longitudinally to enable it tightly to grip the post 13. The handle-bar clamps 21 are integral with the lug 9.
