Abstract

636,281. Motor-cycle spring forks. BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO., Ltd., and PERKINS, H. Nov. 15, 1947, No. 30377. [Class 136 (iii)] In a telescopic spring fork for motor-cycles spring controlled inner tubes 13 carrying the wheel axle are slidable within the outer fixed tubes 1 secured to the steering head 3 and are guided and supported by spaced bearing bushes 17, 19 secured to the fixed tubes. Compression springs 25 are secured to the inner tubes 13 in the manner described in Specification 636,282. The bushes 17, 19 are provided with oil grooves 23 and the lower ends of the tubes 1 are closed by gland nuts 27. In the annular space between each nut 27 and the tube 1 is a felt washer 31 surrounding the inner tube 13 and having a pair of plastic washers 33 which prevent egress of oil and ingress of dirt.
