Class 136(3) A cycle handlebar stem 15 is adjustably connected within a steering fork tube 11 by means of a conical member 17 adjustab1y mounted on a bolt 19 and adapted to be drawn within a slotted lower end 16 of the stem 15 of the handlebar to expand the stem into positive frictional engagement with the surrounding tube 11, and a splined interface between the slotted end 16 of the stem and the tube 11. The spline 14 may be provided in the interior of the steering tube 11 and/or the exterior of the stem 15.
