In a drop-out end of a strongly tapered bicycle fork prong 1 comprising a slot 4 for accommodating the wheel spindle, the slot extending at an angle to the axis of the prong, the end of the prong is pressed to form a flat portion 2 and an attachment piece 3 of the same thickness as the pressed end 2 of the prong 1 is rigidly connected to the latter by welding, brazing or the like. As shown in Fig. 2, the the final curvature of the slot 4 in which the wheel spindle rests is disposed within the surface of the pressed end 2 of the prong. A lug 6 is provided for a mudguard stay. In an alternative embodiment shown in Fig. 3, the prong 1 has a short pressed end 7 and the attachment piece 8 is rigidly connected at 9 to the end of the pressed end 7.
