Abstract
625,838. Cycle frames. ALLEN-BOWDEN, Ltd., and BOWDEN, B. G. Sept. 18, 1946, No. 28054. [Classes 136 (i) and 136 (iii)] A cycle frame comprises a top frame member and a front down frame member which merge with one another to provide a hollow bulbous portion 15 extending well forwardly of the steerable front fork 14 which is journalled in the interior and at the rear of the hollow part 15. The cycle frame is of the type described in Specification 625,835. As shown in Fig. 1, the stem 17 of the steerable front fork 14 extends upwardly within a tube 18, its upper end 24 extending into a rearwardly-extending casing 25 which is substantially triangular in side elevation and is secured to the upper surface of the frame. The interior of the casing may be used to house a wireless set when the bulbous part 15 houses a battery. The top 29 of the casing is detachable and is substantially flat and serves as an instrument panel. In a modification shown in Fig. 4, the fork 14 has a tubular stem 34 secured at its upper end to a cylindrical block 35 the upper end 36 of which has a non circular section and is engaged in a hole in a block 37 fast with an external tube 38 extending within the fixed tube 18. The block 35 has a portion of reduced section in which is mounted a coil spring 42 interacting between a shoulder 43 on the block and the adjacent end 44 of the tube 37 to provide a resilient suspension. Specification 625,883 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
