Abstract
630,356. Crutches. SMITH, H. M. Oct. 1, 1947, No. 26536. [Class 81 (ii)] The upper part of a crutch is resiliently supported on the lower part or stick partly by means of a cantilever spring and partly by a leaf spring connected between the stick and hand grip. In the elbow crutch described the arm band 10 and hand grip 8 are formed as a unit and are attached to the stick 1 by a leaf spring 6, which may be reinforced by a second leaf 14, and a cantilever spring 5 attached to the stick at its lower end and having a slot 11 at its upper end engaging around a stud 12 on the upright section 13. The mounting lug 4 is formed with a lower tubular extension which is a press fit in the tubular stick so that the upper and lower parts of the crutch may be readily separated.
