Abstract
A self-agitating quenching bath for the heat treatment or cleaning of metals contains at least 10 per cent of zinc chloride, an alkali metal chloride, an alkali metal fluoride, and water up to temperatures of 700 DEG F, without boiling. In an example, a bath consists of 60-80 per cent of zinc chloride, 8-18 of potassium chloride, 10-18 of sodium chloride, 1/4 -4 of sodium fluoride and water. Specification 636,027 is referred to.
