Abstract

635,731. Pressure gauges. ELECTROFLO METERS CO., Ltd. Aug. 8, 1947, No. 21821. Convention date, Sept. 8, 1941. [Class 106 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVI] In pressure-operated instruments the fluid seal between the pressure means and the pressure-operated means comprises a hollow housing 10 exposed on its inside to the pressure source, a lever 20 pivoted adjacent the housing and one end of which extends into the housing, a flexible sealing member 24 connecting the lever and housing to prevent flow of fluid around the lever, and adjusting means for the pivotal mounting of the lever to shift its pivotal axis transversely of the lever length to neutralize the turning effecting on the lever of pressure on the sealing member 24. As shown, the housing 10 is connected to a differential pressure gauge of the diaphragm type, a member 22 on the diaphragm rocking the lever 20 about its pivot. The lever 20 may be associated with a fluid-flow meter. The sealing bellows 24 is secured between the end of the lever and a collar 28 held on the housing by a sleeve 30. The lever is supported in a bore 33 in a yoke 32 having aligned bores 34 therein to receive rotatable plugs 36 having eccentric end pins 38 which fit in bearings 40 carried by the sleeves 30. Thus by turning the plugs 36, the axis of the pins 38 may be adjusted transversely of the lever 20, so as to be aligned therewith. This pivotal adjustment obviates the need for accurate machining of the bores 33, 34.
